A House Above Nature — a project that rises above the ground
At a time when architecture increasingly seeks harmony with nature, new projects emerge that not only highlight this idea but elevate it to an entirely new level. One of them is the latest project by Pracownia Projektowa Marta Szlachta — a modular house suspended above a forest clearing, designed as a response to the need for closeness to nature, architectural lightness, and full immersion in the landscape.
The form of the building was designed to interfere with the terrain as little as possible. The house does not stand directly on the ground — it rests on slender supports, making it appear to float above the forest floor. This approach preserved the natural layout of the greenery and minimizes the structure’s impact on the environment. It is architecture that does not dominate, but coexists.
The house was designed and built using modular technology, which significantly shortens on-site construction time. Instead of months of building work that could disturb the local ecosystem, most elements are created in controlled factory conditions and delivered to the site as finished, fully equipped modules.
Most importantly — on-site installation takes just one day.
As a result, we reduce:
noise and pollution,
the need for heavy machinery operating for many weeks,
interference with soil and root systems,
the risk of damaging vegetation and the natural environment.
It is a solution that perfectly aligns with the project's philosophy: preserve nature in its untouched state and create a house that respects it.
The building features two floors designed in a minimalist, contemporary style. The natural horizontal cladding seamlessly integrates the house into the forest environment. Expansive windows connect the interiors to the views, while several terraces — on both the ground and upper levels — enable residents to engage closely with nature.
This is a residence that provides both seclusion and openness, intimacy and spaciousness.
Inside, the home immerses us in a serene atmosphere with natural materials. Warm wooden hues, straightforward shapes, and gentle color highlights dominate the area. The centerpiece of the home is a tall, double-height living space with large windows that frame the views like living art.
A spiral staircase ascends to a mezzanine — a perfect area for working, meditating, reading, or practicing morning yoga.
The project distinctly embodies the studio’s philosophy: naturalness, lightness, daylight, functionality, and complete harmony with the environment.
The blend of modular architecture and elevating the house on supports enabled the creation of a design that leaves a minimal impact on nature. The house not only preserves the existing greenery but also allows it to flourish.
